LOCAL FOOD AND DRINK
We are sure you won’t want to spend all your holiday cooking, so the following places are those we have personally tried or have been recommended to us by people we trust:
Above: Tafarn Sinc, (The zinc Tavern) Rosebush, Maenclochog, Clynderwen, Pembrokeshire. A unique old world pub/hotel built from zinc plated corrugated steel, sawdust on the floor - as seen on TV on the great pubs of Wales. Once used to accommodate slate miners and quarry men.
St. Clears (nearest town – 2.5 miles to the south)
Corvus Inn, Station Road, St. Clears
A friendly pub which offers a range of good food and welcomes well-behaved dogs in the lovely beer garden at the back.
Elaichi, Pentre Rd, St Clears
This is an award-winning restaurant and takeaway specialising in Bangladeshi Cuisine and we have had excellent reports about it. No dogs.
Savoy Inn and Restaurant, A477, just outside St Clears
A big family pub and restaurant with a wide menu including Welsh beef burgers and the famous Welsh dish "Cawl" (a thick broth). Arrive early for prompt service. Dogs are allowed and even have their own menu!
The White Lion, Pwll Trap
Excellent little pub just a few minutes away from us. It has good food and a carvery with a nice beer garden where dogs are welcome. The "short cut" takes you through a manually operated level crossing - very interesting if you've never been through one.
Tafarn Sinc (The Zinc Tavern) / Rosebush
An old style pub built from corrugated steel sheets, with good food and drinks. It features on TV programmes such as the Great Pubs of Wales. Located in the village of Rosebush, there are many interesting sights such as the remains of huge slate quarries, one now flooded to be a nice lake. But be careful, the pits are very deep so keep your dog on a lead. Take him a few miles down the road where he can run to his hearts content over the Preseli Mountain.Takeaway food (St. Clears)
Neil's Fish & Chips, Pentre Road, St. Clears
Local fish and chips
Bombay Spice, Pentre Road, St. Clears
Indian take away. Usual Indian offerings, cooked nicely. Why not have a drink in the Corvus across the road while waiting for your food to be prepared.
Pizza Point, Pentre Road, St. Clears
Takeaway pizza & kebabs as well. The menu looks reasonably priced and delivery is free. We intend to try this out soon!
Elaichi - takeaway
Superb Indian food to take away - and you can have a drink at the bar while waiting for it to be prepared. The only problem is deciding what to order from the extensive menu!
George's Fish and Chips, Station Road
Superb fish and chips, pies, pasties and more. Gluten free choices available.
Laugharne (approx 8 miles south)
Broadway Country House, Broadway
Traditional Sunday carvery with local meat and a wide variety of vegetables. Stunning sea views. Open 12 - 3pm - book to reserve a table on 01994 427969
Stable Door Restaurant & Wine bar, Market Lane
