LOCAL FOOD
AND DRINK |
| We are
sure you won’t want to spend all your holiday cooking, so the following
places are ones we have personally tried or have been recommended to us
by people we trust: |
| St
Clears (nearest town – 2.5 miles to the south) |
Corvus Inn, Station Road,
St. Clears
A very friendly pub which offers a range of good basic bar food and
welcomes well-behaved dogs. Small beer garden at the back |
Butchers Arms, Lower High St,
St. Clears
Another very friendly pub which does food and accepts well-behaved dogs |
Blue Boar, Pentre Road,
St. Clears
This is a very nice restaurant with a wide range of lovely food. It has
a small bar at the back but by virtue of being a restaurant, dogs are not allowed |
Savoy Inn and restaurant, A477,
just
outside St Clears
A big family pub and restaurant with a wide menu including Welsh beef
burgers and the famous Welsh dish "Cawl" (a thick broth). Arrive
early for prompt service. Dogs are not allowed
inside or in the garden due to the number of children present |
The White Lion, Pwll Trap
Excellent little pub just a few minutes away from us. It has good
food and a carvery with a nice beer garden where dogs are welcome. The
"short cut" takes you through a manually operated level crossing - very
interesting if you've never been through one |
Santa Clara, Lower High Street, St. Clears
A real local pub. Small, quiet and basic. Opening hours can be a
bit unusual |
| Tafarn Sinc /
Rosebush
Or “The zinc Tavern” if you prefer the
English language. This is
an old style pub built from corrugated steel sheets and features good
food and drinks to the extent that it features on TV programmes such
as the Great Pubs of Wales. Located
in the village of Rosebush, there are many interesting sights such as
the remains of huge slate quarries, one now flooded to be a nice lake.
However be careful, the pits are very deep so keep your dog on a lead.
Take him a few miles down the road where he can run to his
hearts content over the Preceli Mountain. |

| Takeaway food |
Neil's Fish & Chips, Pentre Road,
St. Clears
Excellent fish and chips |
Bombay spice, Pentre Road,
St. Clears
Superb Indian take away. Usual Indian offerings, cooked to
perfection. Why not have a drink in the Corvus across the
road while waiting for your food to be prepared |
Pizza Point, Pentre Road,
St. Clears
Takeaway pizza & kebabs as well. The menu looks reasonably
priced and delivery is free. We intend to try this
out soon! |
| |
| Laugharne (approx 8 miles
south) |
Broadway Country House, Broadway
Traditional Sunday carvery with local meat and a wide variety of
vegetables. Stunning sea views. Open 12 - 3 PM - book to reserve a table
on 01994 427969 |
Stable Door Restaurant & Wine bar, Market Lane
Excellent & imaginative home made food. Sunday lunches and creative
vegetarian, light lunches and tapas. Advisable to book on 01994 427777 |
